The Ardnamurchan AD/Heritage Barley Release is a limited bottling from the Ardnamurchan distillery, which is based on the west coast of Scotland. The distillery attaches particular importance to transparency and sustainability and so only Scottish heritage barley was used for this Single Malt bottling, which comes from traditional Types and gives the spirit its characterful grain expression. Maturation took place 100% in bourbon casks, allowing depth and complexity to develop. The whisky is bottled non-chill-filtered and in its natural colour with a strong alcohol content of 59.2% vol. which preserves the original character. The aroma reveals malty and fruity notes, accompanied by a hint of maritime freshness. On the palate, honey, ripe fruit and subtle spices combine with a fine smoky note to create a balanced, modern Highland profile. This bottling is the only Ardnamurchan Single Malt to date without the characteristic peat smoke notes.

Die Ardnamurchan Distillery liegt auf der abgelegenen Halbinsel Ardnamurchan Peninsula an der wilden Westküste der schottischen Highlands. Die 2014 eröffnete Brennerei verbindet traditionelle Whiskyherstellung mit modernen Technologien und nachhaltigen Produktionsmethoden. In dem kleinen Ort Glenbeg entsteht Single Malt Scotch Whisky mit Fokus auf Regionalität, ressourcenschonende Prozesse und einen möglichst geringen ökologischen Fußabdruck. Neben klassischer zweifacher Destillation setzt die Destillerie auch auf innovative Ansätze wie Blockchain-Technologie zur Transparenz ihrer Abfüllungen.

Geschmack: Zuerst eine gewisse alkoholische Schärfe. Dann treten Aprikose, Getreide, Karamell und subtile Zitronenzeste in den Vordergrund
Abgang: mittellang, grüne Apfelschale
Kommentar: Köstlich und unkonventionell. Geschmacklich zwar etwas weniger imposant als in der Nase, aber insgesamt von beeindruckender Tiefe für das junge Alter. Profitiert von einer geringen Menge Wasser. -
