This Bunnahabhain was bottled exclusively for Whisky.de. It belongs to Signatory's Un-Chillfiltered range, in which the whiskies are not chill-filtered. So that it does not become cloudy, it was bottled with a strong 46% vol. This makes the Single Malts particularly intense in the Taste. The Bunnahabhain was matured in a first-fill sherry butt.

The Distillery: Bunnahabhain

Bunnahabhain means 'river mouth' translated from Gaelic. The distillery is the northernmost on the island of Islay and is located about three kilometres from Port Askaig. It was built by the Greenless Brothers in 1881. read more

Aroma: zurückhaltend fruchtig, etwas Honig, leichte maritime Noten auch erkennbar

Geschmack: Mirabelle, Aprikose, vollmundig cremig, es mischen sich komplexere Walnuss- und ganz leicht salzige Noten darunter

Abgang: Mittellang bis lang, die Walnuss vom Fass ersetzt langsam die cremigen Fruchtnoten

Kommentar: Fast exakt so habe ich den früheren Bunnahabhain 12 in Erinnerung, der leider in den letzten Jahren die schöne Mirabelle verloren hat. Insgesamt ein wunderbarer Malt, gerade auch wenn man Islay mal ohne Rauch, aber mit leichten maritimen Aromen erleben möchte.
