The Dos Maderas Selección is a rum Blend from carefully selected barrels of the Dos Maderas 5+5 PX and Blends of 10 year old rums from Barbados and Guyana. These were previously matured in former bourbon casks. The result of the blending in the solera process is bottled at 42% vol. at cask strength. Bodegas Williams & Humbert was founded in 1877 and is now owned by the second generation of the Medina family. The bodega is the largest in Europe and is home to over 50,000 American oak barrels for the maturation of sherry, brandy and rum.

The Distillery:
Bodegas Williams & Humbert in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, was founded in 1877 as a Sherry bodega and is owned by the Medina family. Among other things, Dos Maderas Rum is produced in this historic bodega. A double maturation process is used for this, which first takes place in the Caribbean (Barbados, Guyana). After this first maturation, the Rum is further matured in Sherry casks at Williams & Humbert.

Geschmack: Eine wahre Sherry-Bombe zündet da, im Vordergrund Karamell, „stewed fruit“ (Orangenmarmelade?), kandierte Ananas (?) oder Kokosnuss, etwas Vanille, Muskat, später ein Hauch von Kakao und Mandel; zum Ende hin zunehmend das Eichenfass.
Abgang: fruchtig-süffig, honigsüß-vanillig

Aroma: Vollmundig und komplex mit einer Kombination aus getrockneten Früchten wie Rosinen und Feigen. Hinzu kommen samtige Vanillenoten.

Kommentar: Am Anfang recht vielversprechend in der Nase sehr dichtes Aroma vergoren Früchte, Kräutertee nach etwas Zeit an der Luft herzhaftes Aroma wie gute Bratensoße.
Im Geschmack leider sehr enttäuschend sehr wässrig dünnes Aroma süße, alkoholische Note kommt durch. Geht sehr flach in den Abgang und verschwindet schnell.
Für diesen Preis nicht zu empfehlen.
