Product description
Edradour Caledonia shows particularly strong sherry notes. It had enough time in its 42-month finishing phase to draw intense flavours from the exclusive oloroso sherry casks. The Caledonia was named after the song of the same name by the well-known Scottish musician Dougie MacLean. Andrew Symington, the owner of Edradour, and Dougie MacLean designed this whisky together.

It is idyllically situated on the River Edradour, surrounded by hills east of Pitlochry.     Aroma: Sehr volle Nase mit dunklen Früchten und saftigen Beeren. Die Nase lässt auf einen Anteil viel älterer Whiskies schließen.

    Geschmack: Süß und sauer mit einer prickelnden angenehmen Würze. Die Sherry Fässer stehen hier im Vordergrund. Da es gute Fässer waren, ist das auch durchaus gut so. Der Edradour-Funk ist da: Eine tiefe beinahe klebrige Sirupnote, die keineswegs nur süß, sondern ölig und würzig und v.a. geschmacksintensiv ist.

    Abgang: Mittellang mit sanfter Eiche, Nüssen und einer gewissen Säure. Dazu eine leicht süße Fruchtigkeit.

    Kommentar: Leider kommt der Geschmack nicht ganz an die phänomenale Nase heran. Insgesamt aber für den Preis ein äußerst empfehlenswerter Edradour
