This Ezra Brooks Rye (rye whiskey) is distilled from 51% rye, 37% corn and 12% barley. It is then matured in freshly burnt oak barrels. Ezra Brooks is a brand from Kentucky that was founded in 1957. They have made it their mission to produce authentic American bourbon. In 2018, Ezra Brooks found a new home in Bardstown, the bourbon capital of the world. The distillery is known as Lux Row Distillers and was named after the distinctive row of trees on the historic property. The distillery boasts more than 18,000 square feet of land, six busy barrel warehouses and a 43-foot long copper still for the flavourful bourbon and rye whiskeys of Ezra Brooks, Rebel Bourbon, David Nicholson and Blood Oath.

Aroma: schöne, leichte bourbonnote mit viel karamell, vanille, aber auch ein bißchen metall. im hintergrund leder und tabak. erstaunlich komplex im auftritt.
Geschmack: zuerst schön süß, aber dann auch kräftig alkoholisch im antritt. honig und vanille sind dominant, aber auch chillischärfe und viele tannine schwingen mit. dabei ist der rye mundraumausfüllend und auch speichelbildend.
Abgang: mittellang. hier überwiegen die bitterstoffe und ein wenig karamell und chilli.
Kommentar: im direktem vergleich mit dem ezra brooks 90 proof, eindeutig komplexer und insgesamt angehmer zu geniessen. der rye ist für mich persönlich die eindeutig bessere wahl und sollte auf jeden fall pur genossen werden. eindeutig 3 sternchen.
