Flor de Caña Rum comes from Nicaragua and is the only rum brand in the world that is authorised to call itself 'slow aged'. With this certification, the US government authority ensures that the maturation process is natural and not accelerated. The rum is produced directly at the San Antonio sugar factory at the foot of an active volcano, which belongs to the "Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua" founded in 1890. This Flor de Caña rum matures for 18 years in ex-bourbon barrels. The rum is balanced and strong with notes of nuts and caramel, which combine with fruity accents of vanilla and spice.

The Italian Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa founded the Flor de Caña Rum distillery in 1890 at the foot of the San Cristobál volcano in Nicaragua. The distillery is still family-owned and is now run by the fifth generation. read more
