Product description
Glen Moray has been producing whisky since 1897 and is known, among other things, for its versatile approach to maturing its single malts. The 11-year-old Glen Moray Peated Rioja Cask Finish Warehouse 1 is made from lightly peated distillate and initially matured in bourbon casks. Rare Rioja red wine casks from Spain were used for the subsequent maturation. Following its launch in the UK, the single malt is now also available in Germany.

The building in which Glen Moray is housed started out as the West Brewery, founded in 1828. In 1897, its owners, Robert Thorne & Sons, converted the site into a two-still Whisky distillery.

Aroma: Dezenter Torfrauch mit Aromen von Toffee, Zuckerwatte und Obstgartenfrüchten.
Geschmack: Sanfte Lagerfeuernoten führen zu Anklängen von Pflaumen und Kirschen, gefolgt von Tanninen, die angenehm säuerlich und würzig enden.
Abgang: Langanhaltend mit etwas Rauch, dazu Tabak und süßliche Steinfrüchte.

Kommentar: Nun ja, Glen Moray ist mir in erster Linie für günstige "easy to drink" Abfüllungen bekannt. Geschmacklich ist die Abfüllung hier ganz okay, aber das PLV ist für meinen Geschmack nicht so ganz gegeben. Für 50-60 Euro hätte ich einen Stern draufgepackt.
