Glenallachie Masters of Wood Mizunara & Oloroso Cask Finish was recently presented by Billy Walker himself at a live event in Munich. Whisky.de was also there for you to find out first-hand what this new and special bottling is all about. The Single Malt opens the Masters of Wood series, in the new super-premium range of Glenallachie's Wood Collection. The Single Malt Whisky is matured in rare Mizunara barrels, which are known for their rarity and intense wood notes. Maturing whisky in Mizunara barrels requires a great deal of skill, meticulous monitoring during storage and is also quite expensive due to its rarity. Nevertheless, Billy Walker and his team created this bottling, which was combined with Oloroso sherry puncheons and finished in hogsheads. A full-bodied 50% vol. gives this Speyside whisky fruity, citrus, nutty and cinnamon flavours infused with heather honey.

Richtig schöne Farbe.
Sehr dunkel.
Sehr intensives Aroma!
Altes Holz und dunkler Sherry, mit einer feinen Süße.
Der Alkohol scheint gut eingebunden, den merke ich nicht.
Dunkle Schokolade, rote Früchte, Honig, Vanille.
Ein erster Tropfen zeigt dann die Stärke!

Das Holz jetzt deutlicher, schwerer,
bleibt aber aromatisch.
Ob ich jetzt Mizunara oder etwas anderes schmecke, mag ich gar nicht auszumachen. Auf jeden Fall steht ihm das Oloroso Finish recht gut. Andernfalls wäre eine Dominanz der Fassnoten zu befürchten gewesen.
Nicht umsonst spricht Glenallachie von Masters of Wood!
Das ist ein absolutes Schwergewicht.
Ich bin extrem angetan.
Muss mir wohl noch eine Flasche holen…
