Product description

For this limited edition bottling from the Glencadam distillery, the distillate was matured for 17 years in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak and finished in small Pedro Ximénez sherry quarter casks. Master Distiller Robert Fleming thus created a balanced whisky experience with intense notes of Black Forest gateau, coffee, berries and dates.

Aroma: Die Nase ist ne glatte 1! Schöne Eiche, eukalyptischer Alk, Rosenduft, Hagebutte und Cranberry, außerdem Röstaromen und Keksteig.

Taste: Der Gaumen ist leider nicht mehr so gut, da nimmt die säuerliche Weinherbe zu viel Fahrt auf, und alles andere, auch wenn es noch erahnbar sein mag, tritt in den Hintergrund. Den Alkohol nehme ich hier auch nicht mehr als allzu wertig wahr.

Finish: Der Abgang ist endgültig Schrott. Etwas Schoki ist da zwar, ansonsten aber nur pelzige Herbheit von ausgelutschten Fässern.

Comment: Ich vermute, dass man hier ausgelutschte Refill-Ex-Bourbons mit einem PX-Finish aufbrezeln wollte, was so halb gelungen ist. Dafür 170 Taler zu verlangen, ist frech. Da ist man mit dem 17 Jahre alten Port-Glencadam für rund 100 Euro sehr viel besser beraten.

Kommentar: Intensiv, fruchtig und süß. Die Eiche würzig und kaum bitter. Eher Vollmilchschokolade. Sehr gut zu genießen die 46% sind kräftig genug. Ein sehr leckerer Sherrywhisky.
