The Glenfarclas distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and is one of the best-known and most successful family-run distilleries in Scotland. The owner family Grant is proud of its private status, which is reflected in the distillery's slogan ‘The Spirit of Independence’. Since 1865, the fifth generation of the Grant family has been shaping the history of the Glenfarclas distillery. This long family tradition guarantees consistent quality and the necessary foresight for a long-lasting product such as Whisky. Aroma: Sweet Fruit Spices Herbs Nuts Sherry Oak Puderzuckersüße, Sherry der nussigen Art, helle Früchte, frische Kräuter und ein Hauch von holziger Eiche. Teils überraschend und angenehm komplex.

Geschmack: Sweet Malt Nuts Sherry Spices Oak Süß, malzig, nussig. Die Sherrynoten werden von Gewürzen begleitet. Weich und zurückhaltend am Gaumen.

Abgang: Sweet Sherry Spices Herb Oak Sehr süß, mit dezenter Gewürzuntermalung. Herb-trockene Bitterkeit von der Eiche macht sich breit. Klingt angenehm lange nach.

Kommentar: Sehr gesetzt und gediegen. Man spürt, dass dieser Whisky über die Jahre in guten, aber nicht zu überladenen Fässern zur Ruhe gekommen ist. Ein angenehmer, klassischer Schluck ohne unnötigen Firlefanz und ohne große Fehlnoten. Ist es den heutigen Preis aber wirklich wert? In meinen Augen nicht. Ja, andere Hersteller langen beim Preis noch ungenierter zu, aber das macht es nur bedingt besser.
