With Glenmorangie A Tale of the Forest, the distillery from the Highlands once again demonstrates its love of experimentation. The malt for this whisky was first kilned over botanicals such as pine needles, juniper and wood smoke. The forest-influenced whisky was then allowed to mature in former and refilled bourbon casks before being bottled at 46% vol. The elaborate and colourful design of the outer packaging and the bottle was created by the Thai illustrator Pomme Chan, who is said to have an incomparable talent for drawing. Pomme Chan has also worked for other major international brands.

The stretch of land in the Northern Highland on which Glenmorangie stands has been the site for alcohol production (mostly illicit) since the Middle Ages, setting a formidable legacy. Glenmorangie was founded in 1843, although operation didn’t start until 1849.

Interessanter Glenmorangie. Kräuter sind nicht aufdringlich, aber charakteristisch, untypisch für die Whiskys aus Tayne, aber alle mal sein Geld wert.

Kommentar: Auf jeden Fall mal ein ungewöhnlicher Malt. Recht pfeffrig, es folgt Honigsüße und dann geht es einmal quer durchs Gewürzregal.
Man könnte fast meinen, einen Brand aus Kräuterlikör zu trinken.
Mein Geschmack ist es ganz persönlich nicht, da schon etwas too much.
Aber man muss Glenmorangie zugutehalten das die Brennerei hier ein Experiment gewagt hat, das durchaus gelungen ist.
