Product description
This 12-year-old Glentauchers was released as number 18 by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage in the 100 Proof series, in which exclusive whiskies with an alcohol content of at least 57.1% vol. are bottled. The single malt was matured in first fill Oloroso sherry butts. The term proof is an ancient unit of measurement for the alcohol content of a drink, especially whisky, which indicates the minimum alcohol content above which gunpowder soaked in the liquid can be ignited. This method was used in the heyday of seafaring so that the barrels in the belly of the ship could withstand the harsh weather conditions at sea.

The Glentauchers Distillery is situated in the Speyside, just a few miles from Keith at the road to Craigellachie. There’s no visitor center at Glentauchers and this may be one reason why the distillery is not very well known. But the more important reason is probably that there are very few bottlings of Glentauchers Single Malt Whisky: almost the whole production is used for Blended Whisky. read more

Geschmack: Wieder die volle Ladung Sherry, nach einer Weile dann die Fruchtaromen vom Blutorangen und Mandarinen.
Mit etwas Wasser wird er fruchtiger

Abgang: Immer noch Sherry, dazu Eiche und ein paar Walnüsse
