High Coast Älv Batch 5 - Origins

Älv is a non-smoky Single Malt Whisky from Sweden, made from 100% unpeated malt. The name of the bottling translates from Swedish as "river" and is dedicated to the Ångermanälven, a river that flows directly past the distillery. The cold, clear water of this river is used in production and characterises the whisky. The fourth batch matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon casks, more precisely in 11 quarter casks, which only hold 130 litres, and 24 ex-bourbon casks with 200 litres. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no colouring. Its flavour is balanced with clear vanilla notes, which can be attributed to the cask maturation. Älv is part of the Origins series, which focuses on the origin, geographical environment and history of the distillery. The series comprises four whiskies, each of which emphasises these aspects differently.
