With the cask-strength Heather Single Malt, the Highland Park distillery presents the first bottling of a newly launched cask-strength collection, making a powerful statement for unadulterated Orkney character. The whisky is made from 100% Orkney peat-smoked barley and matured in a selection of first-fill European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks, complemented by selected refill casks that give the whisky additional harmony and balance. The Heather was bottled at cask strength with 63.6% vol. without chill-filtering and gets its naturally deep amber colour exclusively from the cask maturation - without any colouring agents. The peat that gives the whisky its distinctive and gently smoky style comes from Hobbister Moor, just a few miles from the distillery in Kirkwall. Hardly any trees grow in this harsh, northern environment due to the strong winds. Instead, a purple carpet of heather covers the landscape in summer. Over thousands of years, this heather has become deeply embedded in the peaty soil, giving Highland Park Heather a unique floral smokiness, floral accents and also its name, which makes the whisky unmistakable. The aroma is characterised by campfire smoke, vanilla pods and brandy butter, before creamy marshmallow flavours combine with nutty nuances of macadamia and a pleasant peppery spiciness on the palate, even before the soft, floral smoke shines through. The long, multi-layered finish combines sweet vanilla with fragrant, lingering smoke and rounds off the characterful cask strength release.

Geschmack: Cremige Marshmallow- und nussige Noten von Macadamia, dazu eine angenehm pfeffrige Würze mit sanften und blumigen Rauchnoten.
