Product description
Bottled exclusively for 'Whisky.de, Highland Park matured for 18 years in a single refill butt and was bottled at 59% cask strength. Benedikt Lüning selected this cask on site during his visit to the distillery. The traditional Highland Park distillery comes from the northern island of Orkney and comprises 26 warehouses. 19 of them still have the traditional earth floors and are so-called 'Dunnage Warehouses', in which this limited bottling was also stored. The bottle is delivered in a wooden crate and the whisky is bottled in its natural colour and without chill-filtering.

Comment: In der Nase wenig Highland Park-typisch. Enorm intensiv, ledrig, so gut wie kein Alkohol in der Nase wahrnehmbar. Nicht die extreme Sherry-/Frucht-Süße sonderm eher schon ledrig. Minimale Spuren von Rauch noch vorhanden, aber eher hinter dem Leder versteckt. Daher hats für mich einen Hauch von Schinken (Kasseler?). Mit Zugabe von etwas Wasser öffnet er, wird komplexer und sanfter: Leder und Schinken weichen, Rosinen dringen durch.

Würzig auf der Zunge, voluminös, dunkle Früchte und Schokolade.

Abgang ist von der längeren Sorte. Deutlich spürbare Eiche, aber nicht zu intensiv. Belegt Zunge und Mundraum angenehm. Geht für mich am ehesten noch in die Richtung von Leder.

Fazit: Kommt vom Geschmacksprofil deutlich älter daher als die 18 Jährchen, die er auf dem Buckel hat. Alles andere als änfängertauglich. PLV finde ich ihn angemessen
