Aroma Red fruits (sour cherry, blackcurrant) with grape skin, cool dryness and restrained smoke. Nutty malt, roasted grain and a fine saltiness round off the flavour.
Taste Rich and mouth-filling, with dark honey, herbs and port-soaked berries. Dark chocolate, grape seeds, dry oak and mineral peat smoke add excitement. Salty notes keep the focus on the distillate.
Finish Long and dry, with peppery oak, dark fruit peel, spice and a subtle ashy saltiness, ending in a cool, slightly mentholated finish.

Product description
This bottling from the Inchgower Distillery was bottled by The Caskhound after 11 years of maturation in a refill Bourbon cask and a 4-year finish in an ex-Staoisha port cask. The independent German bottler The Caskhound offers a diverse selection of high-quality whiskies, most of which are released as single cask or small batch bottlings and reflect different regions and styles. The Islay distillery Bunnahabhain usually markets whiskies under the name Staoisha, which are strongly smoky but carry the fruity house style of Bunnahabhain with maritime accents. "Staoisha" is the name of a lake whose waters the distillery uses and was chosen for this heavily peated variant. The bottling was neither chill-filtered nor coloured at a cask strength of 56% vol. and delights connoisseurs with a fruit mix of redcurrants and sour cherries, rich peat smoke notes and a fine grain structure that is sweet and maritime with a long and pleasantly dry finish.

    Kommentar: PLV okay, aber ich hatte mir mehr davon erhofft. Die Nase kann überzeugen, der Rest fällt leider etwas ab.

    Aroma: Rote Früchte (Sauerkirsche, Johannisbeere) mit Traubenschale, kühler Trockenheit und zurückhaltendem Rauch. Nussiges Malz, geröstetes Getreide und feine Salzigkeit runden das Aroma ab.

    Geschmack: Reich und mundfüllend, mit dunklem Honig, Kräutern und portgetränkten Beeren. Bitterschokolade, Traubenkerne, trockene Eiche und mineralischer Torfrauch sorgen für Spannung. Salzige Noten halten den Fokus auf dem Destillat.

    Abgang: Lang und trocken, mit pfeffriger Eiche, dunklen Fruchtschalen, Würze und dezenter aschiger Salzigkeit, endend in einem kühlen, leicht mentholigen Nachhall.
