Variety Single Malt Whisky
Aroma Intense with heather, sultanas, pears and orange peel. Stone fruits in combination with mixed spices and rich peat smoke.
Taste Ripe plums, red cherries and a hint of citrus, followed by intense peat smoke, caramel sweets, oak and dark chocolate.
Finish Mouth-filling and fruity with caramel, cinnamon and clove. Plus brown sugar, spices, peat smoke and a lingering sweetness.

Product description
Kilchoman Sanaig is named after the bay of Sanaigmore on the island of Islay. Originally, the first, limited bottling of Sanaig consisted of 30% bourbon casks and 70% Oloroso sherry casks. This made the Islay whisky a rich and fruity flavour experience, with a beautiful balance between smoky and subtle caramel notes.

After more than 125 years, the Kilchoman farm distillery is the first new distillery to be built on the island of Islay. At the distillery, which was founded in 2005 and produces a 100 per cent Islay Single Malt, all production steps are carried out on site, from the cultivation of the barley to the filling of the bottles. read more

Kommentar: Super komplex, beim zweiten Durchgang anders als beim Ersten. Ein toller Tropfen über den sich sehr viel philosophieren lässt!

Aroma: Vordergründig Rauch mit maritimen Noten, Speck und dahinter fruchtige Süße

Geschmack: deutlicher Rauch verbunden mit dunklen Früchten und Trockenfrüchten wie Rosinen. Kräftig und mundfüllend, trockener werdend, Holz deutlich spürbar

Abgang: bleibt lange und trocken, belegt die Zunge spürbar

Kommentar: Sehr schöner rauchiger und fruchtig-süßlicher Whisky, der von stürmischer Kraft und Jugend sowie deutlichem Fasseinfluss lebt. Alles in allem ein vielseitiger und empfehlenswerter Dram mit gutem PLV. So manche Flasche mit Altersangabe aus nahmhaften Hause kann da nicht mithalten.

Orange-tinged amber in colour, on the nose coal smoke and bitter herbaceous and metallic notes prevail on a second layer of oak wood, dried fruits, dark fruits, chestnut honey and sweet Sherry accents. It needs time and oxygen to evolve and become more balanced and integrated.
In the mouth, cold campfire smoke, citrus, salty maritime notes, oak, wood spices, Oloroso Sherry (again in the background), dark chocolate, and coffee powder are present.
It's a nice complexity for a young whisky (about 4 or 5 years old), reminding me a bit of the Ardbeg ashy peat style.
Medium finish, due to its young age, starting with fresh mentholated sensations, then dry, mineral and astringent, spicy and ashy, and finally some bitter metallic accents
