The heavy wooden boat Kirk & Sweeney was best known for smuggling rum during Prohibition. It was used to smuggle rum and spirits from the north-east of the Caribbean to the USA. In 1924, the boat was confiscated off the coast of New York with a huge quantity of rum on board. The boat was subsequently renamed "Chase" and served in Coast Guard training until the late 1940s. Reserva Rum is made from a by-product of sugar cane. The 'blackstrap molasses' is fermented with the greatest care and then distilled. The rums mature for between three and 14 years in oak barrels and are then blended together.

Die Wurzeln der Rumbrennerei Bermúdez reichen bis ins Jahr 1852 zurück, als Don Erasmo Bermúdez in Santiago de los Caballeros ein alkoholisches Getränk für medizinische Zwecke entwickelte. Dies markierte den Beginn einer Erfolgsgeschichte, die zur Gründung von "La Sin Rival" führte – der ältesten Spirituosenfabrik der Dominikanischen Republik. Die heutige Brennerei trägt den Namen J. Armando Bermúdez und stellt unter anderem den beliebten Kirk & Sweeney Rum her.

Heftiger Antritt, unerwartet süß und mild, süß mit Karamell. Angenehme Nuancen von Frucht, Obst und Zuckerrohr. Keine Dominanz und unwahrscheinlich angenehm in dieser Preisklasse. Toll
