The distillery was founded in 1898 by John Thompson, and administered by the Knockando-Glenlivet Distillery Company. The acclaimed Whisky architect Charles Doig designed the site. The name of the distillery comes from the Gaelic 'Cnoc-an-dhu', meaning 'little black hill', quite probably an homage to the hills in-between which the site is located. read more

Taste:Sweet Fruit Malt Oak Spices

Finish: Short to medium

Comment: Dull, simplified, not for advanced whisky drinkers. Rather boring. Should be better if 46% and not chill filtered. Hopefully the owner will be changed in the future 'cause I somehow feel pity for Knockando which might be another Arran or Craigellachie.
