This Lagavulin bottling is part of the Distillers Edition of the Classic Malts of Scotland. The single malt matured for at least three months in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The powerful, dry and maritime character of Lagavulin is complemented here by rich, sweet flavours from a Pedro Ximenez cask.

Frisch entkorkt wurde lgv 4/505-L6221CM00006293571 - abgefüllt 15. Jun 16 (815372)

Nach 20 Minuten Standzeit im Glencairn-Glas ist dieser schneller präsent als die Abfüllung 2002/2018.
Er zeigt schon heute seine ganze Schwere und Wucht, Süße (Trockenfrucht, Rosinen, Zartbitterschokolade, Vanille, zum Schluss bitter-sweet im besten Sinne), Rauchigkeit (Lagerfeuer, Schinken), gut eingebundene Eichenwürzigkeit und die maritimen Aspekten (Jod, Tang) .

Wie auch andernorts schon beschrieben, macht diese edition einen etwas süß-cremigeren Eindruck, für mich als PX-Aficionado perfekt. Für die von mir bezahlten 72,50€ ein perfekter und bezahlbarer Genuss - gut gereifter Lagavulin ist eben doch etwas besonders Hervorzuhebendes unter den Islay-Peats
