Product description
The Laphroaig Oak Select Single Malt Whisky contains proportions of all known Laphroaig bottlings (10 years, PX Cask, Quarter Cask and Triple Wood). The combination of the different casks and bottlings creates a harmonious balance between peat smoke, vanilla, honey and slightly earthy flavours. Ian Hunter, the last of the founding family, visited the bourbon distilleries in Kentucky around 70 years ago to learn their ageing techniques. Up to this point, all the casks were from Europe, which resulted in a much sweeter Laphroaig. Hunter had a selection of ex-bourbon casks shipped to Scotland so that he could test these casks on his whisky. This is the beginning of Laphroaig as we know it.

Laphroaig (pronounced 'La-froig') means 'the beautiful hollow by a broad bay' in Gaelic. The area around the distillery, which is located on the remote island of Islay (pronounced 'Ei-la') off the west coast of Scotland, is just as beautiful. Kommentar: Ein Laphroaig zum einsteigen. Ich mag ihn immer wieder, würde aber den 10er bevorzugen. Weniger Rauch und Torf, mehr Früchte und süßer als gewohnt. Aber der passt.

Kommentar: ... die verschiedenen Sorten finden zwar zusammen, jedoch hatte ich mir etwas mehr davon versprochen-- für meinen Geschmack zu wenig %, aber das ist nur eine Meinung.-- ansich mag ich Laphroaig sehr und werde mir Fassstärke oder mind. 48% ter bestellen....
