This Loch Lomond Grain Whisky is made exclusively from smoky barley malt. However, since it is distilled by continuous column distillation and not in pot stills as prescribed for Single Malt, it bears the official designation Single Grain Whisky. Master Blender Michael Henry chose only first-fill and refill bourbon casks for the bottling.

Loch Lomond is located in the Scottish town of Alexandria, directly on the lake of the same name. Hardly any other distillery in Scotland deserves the title 'unique' as much as Loch Lomond. The distillery has not only pot stills, but also Coffey and Column stills. This allows the production of many different types of Whisky.

Aroma: Kräuter, grüner Apfel, frischer, minziger Torfrauch mit angenehmen Lagerfeuerrauch Noten. Alles zusammen sehr schön eingebunden und trotz neck pour rund und samtig. Keine Fehlnoten, keine Schärfe, nichts. Clean, frisch. Zitronenabrieb. Zigarrentabak.
Geschmack: rauchiger Antritt, leicht prickelnd auf der Zunge, ölig. Mit Süße und Säure, im Development ein wenig herzhaft werdend und mit einem leicht bitteren touch. Angenehm ausbalanciert, kein Zitronensäure plus Peat Kläffer. Saurer Apfelgummie. Frisch, crisp.
Abgang: Fenchel, Süßholz und natürlich abklingender, kälter werdender Rauch. Auch hier wieder tolle, würzige Tabaknoten, die Torfung ist sehr gut gelungen, Mjam.
Kommentar: Ich sehe diesen Whisky als gelungenes Experiment, das zu einem fairen Preis verkauft wird, statt das dreifache für eine „Special Edition“ zu verlangen. Der ist mit 4/5 Sterne wert.
