The Macallan's A Night on Earth series celebrates special moments around the world where people come together and transitions are experienced. The First Light edition marks the start of a new year in New Zealand, one of the first places in the world to see in the new year. This edition combines the distillery's longstanding craftsmanship with a tribute to nature, culture and community. The whisky has been matured in carefully selected sherry American and European oak casks, complemented by bourbon casks, to develop a warm, fruity profile. The bottle and stylish wooden gift box reflect the quality, care and concept of the range, inspired by dawn, fire and light. The illustration for The First Light was created by New Zealand artist Bonnie Brown, whose personal memories of coastal New Year traditions inspired the design of the bottle and gift box.
