The Wolfburn 'Langskip' was named after the Viking ships that once ruled the seas off the north coast of Scotland. Maturation in first-fill bourbon casks has given the Single Malt depth and smoothness.

Wolfburn
Wolfburn is the northernmost distillery on the Scottish mainland. It was originally built in 1821 but had to close again in the course of the 19th century and today only ruins of the old complex remain. In 2011, a new distillery was built not far from the ruins and in the meantime the production volume has returned to the same level as in the 19th century. The logo features a wolf, whose related mythical creature, the so-called 'sea wolf', is said to bring good luck to all those who set eyes on it. In the 16th century, when the drawing for the Wolfburn logo was made, there were plenty of wolves in the area. read more

Aroma: leichte Vanilla sehr angenehm, Impression von Pflaume Plum ...

Geschmack:
Spices Almonds , brennt gar nicht trotz hoher %, Ginger hat Ingwer- Touch...
Abgang: etwas Herb mit Fruit , kräftig bis etwas " scharf" , wobei ich nicht sagen kann wonach...(aber gut!)

Kommentar: .. sehr schön, eigen, super PLV, -- auch was für Rauchfans, welche einmal nicht peated wollen...da er mir nicht süß vorkommt.

Aroma: Wirkt nicht jung, keine störende Alkoholnote. Zitrusaroma, floral, Rosen- und Orangenblüten. Mit Wasser macht er noch einmal deutlich auf.

Geschmack: Startet sehr süß, sehr massiver Antritt, bleibt süß, am Ende kommt die Schärfe der 58%.

Abgang: Mittlang und weich, am Ende schärfer werdend.

Kommentar: Ein gut ausbalanzierter und runder Whisky. Anders als andere hochprozentige NAS-Whiskys ohne stechende Noten und sehr gut gemacht. Durchaus komplexe Nase und im Mund ein Wechselspiel aus Süße und Schärfe. Mit ein wenig Wasser gewinnt er nochmals. Unter 50 Euro ein gutes PLV. Bei um die 40 Euro 4,5 Sterne.
