Sherry

	Variety	Single malt whisky
	Aroma	Mild and gentle with tingling facets of exotic fruits, plus white grapes and floral hints. Currants, mangosteen and lychees follow, then lemon sorbet fruit sweets with vanilla fudge and a little caramel.
	Taste	Smooth and creamy, slightly sweet and fruity. Then sharper with a stronger emphasis on acidity, leading to spicy, peppery and drying tannins. A drop of water initially enhances the fruitiness without diminishing the flavour.
	Finish	Medium to long, finishes dry, tingling on the tongue and warmly spicy with some fruity acidity and a pinch of white pepper. The acidity decreases with water, while the spiciness has a slightly cooling effect with notes of Szechuan pepper.

Product description

This Mortlach is part of this year's special release series from Diageo and tells the story of whisky craftsmanship combined with a high degree of creativity. The 'Spirited Xchange Second Edition' runs under the motto "what if", in which different flavours are presented through different and special cask compositions. The special releases guide tasters, whisky fans and Single Malt Whisky collectors through rare bottlings, rich flavour profiles and their own imagination. The Mortlach was first matured in American oak refill and ex-Bourbon casks, then finished in Ramandolo white wine and Sangiovese red wine casks. This lively and opulent Speyside whisky was bottled at natural cask strength. The elaborately designed outer packaging makes the limited special bottlings ideal as a collector's item or as a gift.

The Distillery: Mortlach

The Mortlach distillery was the first of Dufftown’s famous seven distilleries. The distillery was also the first legal distillery in the town, which is quite a distinction, especially when we consider the impressive amount of illicit activity that was occurring around the site at that time. read more

Aroma: Mild und sanft mit prickelnden Facetten von exotischen Früchten, dazu weiße Trauben und florale Anklänge. Johannisbeeren, Mangostane Litschis folgen, Zitronensorbet-Fruchtbonbons kommen mit Vanille-Fudge und etwas Karamell.

Geschmack: Glatt und cremig, leicht süß und fruchtig. Dann schärfer mit einer stärkeren Säurebetonung, was zu würzigen, pfeffrigen und austrocknenden Tanninen führt. Ein Tropfen Wasser verstärkt zunächst die Fruchtigkeit, ohne die Würze zu mindern.

Abgang: Mittellang bis lang, endet trocken, kribbelnd auf der Zunge und warm-würzig mit etwas fruchtiger Säure und einer Prise weißem Pfeffer. Mit Wasser nimmt die Säure ab, während die Würze einen leicht kühlenden Effekt mit Noten von Szechuanpfeffer.
