Product description
Noah's Mill is an outstanding Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey from the Willet Distillery, a favourite among Bourbon fans, which is bottled in small batches. The mashbill consists of 72% corn, 13% rye and 15% barley, which is then mashed and distilled with limestone-filtered water from the spring on the distillery site. After at least 4 years in brand new American oak barrels, an original Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was created that is exceptionally complex but wonderfully smooth in flavour. This special bottling received 91 points in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible!

    Generell sind die Unterschiede der Batches bei Willet schon sehr krass.
    Mein neues Batch 23-48 war ziemlich oberflächlich und sprittig.
    Älteres Batch 20-03 ( in grüner Flasche ) war eine wahre Wucht. Erdig, alt gereift und einfach nur mega. Aufgrund de Unterschiede werden es nur 4 Sterne.

    Kommentar: Dieser Bourbon überzeugt mit einer harmonischen Balance aus Süße und Tiefe. Bereits beim ersten Schluck entfaltet sich ein weiches, vollmundiges Aroma mit Noten von Honig, Karamell und einer dezenten Würze. Der Nachklang ist langanhaltend und elegant.

    Aroma: Caramel Vanilla Oak Tobacco
    Angenehme Süße, Würzigkeit, holzig als würde man in einem Lagerhaus sein.

    Geschmack: Sweet Orange Walnut Herb Oak
    Sehr intensiv und kräftig im Mund. Süß und fruchtig gefolgt von nussiger "Staubigkeit" und Tanninen aus dem Holz der amerikanischen Weißeiche, die diesen Bourbon ungewöhnlich herb machen.

    Abgang: Warm und hinterlässt einen sehr erdigen Eindruck auf der Zunge, der lange anhält.


    Kommentar: Nicht der typische Bourbon, da sehr holzlastig. Muss man mögen. Ich mag's. Ein bisschen Wasser macht ihn fruchtiger.
    Die Willet Distillery gibt an, dass im 'Noah's Mill' wohl bis zu 15 Jahre alte Bourbon Whiskeys abefüllt werden; ich finde das schmeckt man auch heraus.
    Nach so vielen Jahren der Lagerung merkt man die Tannine der amerikanischen Weißeiche deutlich, sowohl im Aroma, Geschmack als auch im Abgang.
    Ich habe das Batch 23-03 verkostet.

    Comment: One of my favorite bourbons. For the price, which I know is not super cheap, it is still an amazing bargain. I waste my time trying too many other small batch bourbons, I love this onen so much!
