Pulteney
For a long time Pulteney could be called the most northern distillery on the Scottish mainland. When Wolfburn Distillery in Thurso opened in 2013 they took over this title, but Pulteney hasn’t lost its attraction on Whisky lovers. The coastal style of the Old Pulteney Whisky (as the Whiskies from Pulteney are called) is a very unique one and the releases use to be very well judged by the Whisky experts. read more

Aroma: Elegante sirupartige Sherrynoten. Holzpolitur, süß mit Anklängen von buttrigem Nougat. Auch eine angenehme Eichennote entwickelt sich. Brombeermarmelade

Geschmack: Süß, voll, cremig, Kakao und Karamellsirup. Kleine Sips helfen, sowie auch Zeit im Glas. Salzig und herzhaft ist er in Teilen auch. Die unglaubliche Vielfalt von verschiedenen Eindrücken muss hier genannt werden.

Abgang: Leicht klebrige Sirupnote die gerade noch angenehm ist. Am Ende kommt eine leichte Säure im Mundraum auf. Zuletzt bleibt ein trockenes nussiges Mundgefühl mit einem Hauch Rauch.

Kommentar:
Erstklassiger Klassiker, wie auch der 17er. Die 2010er scheinen Old Pulteneys Hochphase gewesen zu sein.

Aroma: unmittelbar frisch-fruchtig, Orangenschale, Mandarine, Aprikose/Mirabelle, Vanille, Thymianhonig

Geschmack: mild-würzig, ganz kurz etwas Pfeffer, partikuläre Textur, dann weich und vollmundig werdend, frisch, etwas ätherisch-kühlend, Süßholz, Anklang eines mediterraner "Bergkräuter"honigs (Erinnerungen an Kreta)

Abgang: mittellang, würzig, süß-salzig, zum Ende etwas seifig. Im geleerten Glas Zitrusfruchtschale

Kommentar: Toller, sehr vielschichtiger, frisch-fruchtig-würziger Whisky, der mit Anflügen süß-salzig-ätherischem spielt. Nicht so schön ist die etwas seifige Note nach dem Abgang, die glücklicherwiese sehr dezent ausfällt.
