The village of Port Askaig is located on the north-east coast of the Isle of Islay. It is the village that has been considered the gateway to the island for hundreds of years. The distillery behind this 17-year-old single malt is a well-kept secret, as this is part of the concept behind the brand, which was created by Elixir Distillers. Although the casks for each Port Askaig bottling are always selected from one distillery, the respective Islay distillery can vary depending on the bottling. As the distillery, which is also known as the 'Sound of Islay', did not allocate any casks elsewhere in the production year of this bottling, another distillery, which was heavily involved in maritime trade in its early days, is probably responsible for the contents. The pleasantly smoky single malt matured for 17 years in American oak casks.

Geschmack: im Geschmack setzt sich der Aromeneindruck fort, kräftig mit Tanninen der Eichenfässer
alles sehr rund und auf einander abgestimmt, im Hintergrund ein paar florale Noten
Abgang: lang, wärmend, dezent süß
Kommentar: ein toller Whisky. Ich konnte ihn mit dem 8-jährigen, 14-jährigen und dem 100-Proof von Port Askaig vergleichen, das hier ist der Beste. Ein ehrlicher Islay, der jeden Cent Wert ist.
