Product description

The Tenné was first matured for at least eight years in Bourbon barrels before it received a 6-month finish in port wine casks.

The Speyside distillery now calls its malts by the shortened form Spey to avoid confusion with other malts from the Speyside region.

The Distillery: Speyside Distillers

Having only been founded in 1976, Speyside is one of the newest distilleries in Scotland. However, it took more than two decades from the founding of the distillery for construction on the site to be finished. Bottle 382 - L21-8106, verkostet über einen Zeitraum von 5 Monaten.
Anfangs alkohollastig, mit Zeit und Wasser angenehmer. Beeindruckende Farbe, Nase und Aufmachung mit Port, Trauben, Erdbeeren. Am Gaumen eichenwürziger und unausgewogener. Finish mittellang, etwas bitter-scharf-jugendlich und unbedeutend. Für mich etwas überpreist.
Mit den ersten Monaten und Luft in der Flasche besser werdend. Jetzt mit Zeit und etwas Wasser auch am Gaumen und etwas im Abgang viel Port, Süsse, gut eingebundene Würze (Pfeffer, etwas Muskat), ist durchaus schmackhaft geworden
Nach gut 3 Monaten aber schwächelnd, wird etwas säuerlich, herb-bitter mit nur noch sehr diskreten Anklängen an den Tawny Port. Die Schlussdrams dann eher enttäuschend. Dem zeitnah verkosten Glenmorangie 12yo Quinta Ruban doch deutlich unterlegen
Im Querschnitt 3 Sterne mit Plustendenz - für mich keine Wiederholung wert.
