Aroma Apple pie with currants and orange peel, followed by exotic notes of pineapple and fennel.
Taste Very fruity after apricots and raspberries. Lemon cake with creamy almond notes follow in the background.

Situated at Knockando in the center of the Speyside the Tamdhu Distillery managed to survive difficult years of economical ups and downs. This is due to the status of Tamdhu Whisky as a reliable component in the Blends of the Highland Distillers for years. It always was “The Can-Dhu-Spirit”. Kommentar: Ein sehr solider, recht fruchtiger Whisky. Im Geruch sehr zitrusfruchtlastig, leichte Noten von Apfel und Honig und Süße spürt man auch. Im Geschmack ist er dann nicht mehr so süß, jedoch vollmundig und auch ein wenig cremig am Gaumen. Man schmeckt deutlich das Fass und den Eichencharakter. Auch eine ganz leichte Schärfe ist zu verzeichnen.
Im Abgang hat er eine leichte Bitterkeit, und man bekommt auch nochmals die Eiche deutlich zu spüren. Zu guter letzt bleiben dann mehr die Zitrusaromen im Mund hängen.

Alles in allem ein sehr guter Whisky, besonders wenn man den Eichen-und Sherry-Charakter mag. Für mich könnte er noch einen Hauch mehr Süße und ein bisschen weniger Bitterkeit vertragen, deswegen nur 4 Sterne.
