Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Batch 124.7 Proof is an exclusive series based on the same mash bill as the Woodford Reserve Bourbon. The Mash Bill contains 72% corn, 18% rye, 10% malted barley. The ultra premium whiskey is distilled on pot stills by Chris Morris and Elizabeth O'Neill McCall and bottled at 64.3% vol. It is a tribute to the Woodford Reserve variety of flavours, which is created by blending more than 100 different barrel maturation profiles. The casks are stored on different floors in different warehouses at the distillery, creating a unique and natural flavour profile.

Woodford Reserve is a very unique Bourbon distillery at Versailles, Kentucky, different from others. In contrast to common Bourbon distilleries that work with continuous stills they have three pot stills here to create a triple distilled aromatic Whiskey. Among the Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky Woodford Reserve is the smallest one. And if you look at the nice grey stone buildings in the very charming setting you also may agree that it is the most beautiful one.

Geschmack: Pfeffrige Backgewürze, Kardamom und Kiefer mit dezentem Karamell, dazu Anklänge von Zimtrinde eingebettet in intensive Alkoholnoten.
Abgang: Langanhaltend, wärmend und intensiv mit erneuten Kirscharomen, zum Ende hin feine Akzente von Zedernholz, Leder und Vanille.

Kommentar: Woodford hat mich ja noch nie wirklich enttäuscht. Und der Kollege hier erst recht nicht. Das Aroma öffnet sich erst mit H2O und es wird komplexer, aber auch unverdünnt kommt gut Eiche, dunkle Schokolade und ein wunderbarer Hauch Orangenzeste durch. Der Geschmack ist unverdünnt recht angenehm, klar kommt Alkohol bei über 60% durch, aber die Aromen drumherum sind klar erkennbar. der Abgang ist mittellang. Fazit: ein feiner Tropfen, absolute Empfehlung / 4,5 Punkte
