Arôme Rich and balanced with cooled cinnamon buns, preserved oranges and sultanas with fresh oak. Subtle notes of mint in the background.
Bouche Soft with classic sherry notes. Added to this are fruity notes of banana and berry jam with butter biscuits.
Finale Pleasantly long with notes of dried fruit.

The Tamdhu distillery matures its Single Malts entirely in sherry casks. The 12-year-old was relaunched in 2018. It replaces the previous 10-year standard bottling. The elegant glass bottle is meant to be reminiscent of the Victorian era.

Situated at Knockando in the center of the Speyside the Tamdhu Distillery managed to survive difficult years of economical ups and downs. This is due to the status of Tamdhu Whisky as a reliable component in the Blends of the Highland Distillers for years. It always was “The Can-Dhu-Spirit”. Kommentar: Der zwölfjährige Tamdhu begeistert mich schon sehr. Die Aromatik, die man klassischerweise mit einem sherryfassgereiften Whisky assoziiert, vereint er komplex und harmonisch. In der Nase begrüß einen direkt das fruchtig-süße Sherryaroma mit Schokolade, Rosine, Traube, Mandel und tropischen Fruchteinflüssen. Dieser Eindruck setzt sich auf der Zunge genau so fort. Der Whisky bring ein sehr lebendiges Mundgefühl mit, da hinter den schweren Sherrynoten eine prickelnde Würze und frischer Ingwer aufwarten. Dieser Geschmackseinfluss hält sich im Abgang auch noch lange und wärmend auf der Zuge, bis er schließlich in eine angenehme Bitterkeit und Würze von Zartbitterschokolade und frischem Tabak übergeht.
