The 16-year-old Bruichladdich Organic Barley is a Single Malt Whisky that is based on and clearly reflects the origin of its raw materials. Distilled from 100% organic Scottish barley, the grain comes from Mid Coul Farm near Inverness, where sustainable farming is practised without agrochemicals. The 2,755 acre estate utilises a closed fertility system, harvesting energy from an anaerobic digester and returning nutrients to the soil. This careful management allows for a barley that is unadulterated by the terroir and fully traceable from field to bottle. Each stage of production is certified organic and is subject to annual inspections by the Biodynamic Association. The organic barley whisky is distilled unpeated and slowly in the tall, narrow-necked stills of the Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay. It is then matured exclusively on the island for 16 years in first-fill American oak casks that previously contained Bourbon. This careful maturation emphasises the natural character of the barley and combines it with the gentle influences of the wood. In the glass, the Organic Barley Single Malt shows a lively, cereal-accentuated style, accompanied by fresh notes of tropical fruit and delicate vanilla cream. An exceptional Islay Single Malt that combines the pure expression of origin, sustainable farming and traditional craftsmanship.

Bruichladdich is Gaelic (Bruchláddich or Bruikladdie) and means corner of the beach or gentle slope of the sea. The distillery was built in the year 1881 by the Brothers Robert, William and John Gourlay Harvey.

Herstellerbeschreibungle 26.09.2025Aroma: Lebendig und fruchtig mit einem erfrischenden Mix aus tropischen Früchten, Ananas, Pfirsich und Aprikosenmarmelade. Kandierte Zitrusnoten von Orange und Zitrone folgen mit floralen Nuancen ehe geröstete Eiche und Malzzucker übernehmen.
Geschmack: Süße tropische Früchte mit Eichenaromen aus dem amerikanischen Eichenfass, dazu Vanillecreme, Honig und Muscovado-Zucker. Vanillepudding trifft nachfolgend auf fruchtigen Charakter und eine elegante Getreidenote.
Abgang: Weich und sanft bleiben tropische Fruchtnoten im Finale zurück, wobei der Einfluss der Eiche für Noten von getrockneter Kokosnuss und zarter Vanillecreme sorgt.
