The Appleton Estate Reserve Rum was produced to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the distillery and contains selected Pot Still reserves from their renowned stock. The maturation period of at least eight years, the climate of Jamaica and the limestone-filtered water used in the production of this rum give it its multi-layered character.
Appleton Estate was founded in 1749 in the Nassau Valley and is thus the oldest distillery on the island. The distillery includes sugar cane plantations as well as its own spring and yeast breeding. The rum is traditionally produced here in the elaborate Pot Still process with ingredients from the estate's own production.

Absolut klasse! Der Rum hat es wirklich in sich. Nase gibt einem direkt zu verstehen, dass der nicht so leicht und sippable ist wie Column Still Rums, man hat direkt eine kräftige, süße Nase, viel überreife Früchte und Gewürze.
Der Geschmack und Abgang erinnern schon stark an einen Malt Whisky, es hat wirklich etwas von Obst, das schon länger Reif ist und anfängt zu verzuckern, ich persönlich liebe das.
Abgang ist für einen Rum auch wirklich lang und intensiv.
Klasse Produkt, macht mich neugierig auf den 12 Jahre alten Appleton!

Stark! Fruchtiger Rum mit viel Honigsüße, Vanille, Banane. Dazwischen etwas Eiche, mal sogar spürbar, dann doch eher Milchschokolade, Zimt. Im Abgang überrascht er erst mit Würze und Eiche, erst dann schmiegt sich wieder die tropische Süße an den Gaumen, wieder mit Honig, Banane, Vanille. 4 Sterne sollte man geben weil es noch komplexere Rums gibt, mit mehr Wechselspiel zwischen Nase, Geschmack und Abgang, aber bedenkt man noch das PLV hat er sich seine vollen 5 Sterne verdient, leckere Geschichte…
