The Ballechin 20 Years Old First Fill Moscato Passito Wine Cask combines powerful peaty smoke with the intense fruitiness of an exceptional sweet wine cask. During its 20-year maturation, this Single Malt was matured exclusively in First Fill Moscato Passito Wine Cask #808, one of only two sister casks. The cask was first used for whisky maturation following the ageing of an aromatic Italian sweet wine made from dried Muscat grapes, and imparts pronounced notes of honey, apricots, peaches and candied citrus fruits, which harmonise perfectly with the smoky and spicy characteristics. The Ballechin Single Malts from the Edradour Distillery form part of the distillery’s heavily peated range and boast a phenol content of around 50 ppm. Bottled by Signatory Vintage as part of the renowned The Single Cask Collection at natural cask strength, this Single Malt represents an unadulterated maturation process, free from colouring or chill filtration. The result is a complex, expressive whisky with intense smokiness, elegant sweetness and exceptional depth.
