This Croftengea from the Loch Lomond distillery belongs to the Cask Craft series of the independent bottler Murray McDavid. In his new series with a total of 6 bottlings, he includes Single Malts from all over Scotland bottled in a wide variety of oak casks. The special single casks are bottled uncoloured and unfiltered and are therefore ideal collector's items. The Croftengea is matured in a single Marsala barrique cask. The slightly peated Single Malt becomes a tropical-fruity combination of honey cereals, sweet walnut and BBQ facets through the post-maturation in the Italian wine cask.

Blind verkostet:
Eine würzige, torfige Nase,
etwas streng, ungewohnt.
Wirkt relativ jung.

Geschmacklich etwas milder, angenehmer, aromatischer.
Die Holznote kommt hervor,
die Torfnote bleibt.
Ja, jung, aber süffig.

Für mich immer schwer zu sagen,
ein rauchiger, Bourbon Cask gereifter Single Malt,
mit 43%.

Geschmack: wieder leichte Wacholdernote mit Lagerfeuer, dezente Fruchnote von Johannisbeere, Grapefruit und evtl. etwas Erdbeere

Ausgezeichnetes PLV, daher auch 5 Sterne, erstaunlich medizinischer Rauch und maritim für einen non Islay, Süsse des Marsala casks spürbar überlagert aber keinesfalls, deutliche Grapefruit und Zitronenschalen Noten, erfüllt was er verspricht: "fruity and smoky"
