Glenmorangie The Altus 25 Years is an exceptional Highland Single Malt developed by Dr Bill Lumsden, the creative mind behind Glenmorangie. Dr Bill is world-renowned for his pioneering maturation experiments. His approach: to constantly question what is possible - according to the principle "What if...?". The basis for this quarter-century whisky is 25 years of maturation in ex-bourbon casks made especially for Glenmorangie from American white oak. These casks give the distillate a typical, velvety structure and elegant notes of vanilla, honey and ripe fruit. The Altus is a marriage of this Bourbon-matured whisky with a small amount of Glenmorangie matured in Malmsey Madeira wine casks, a nod to the distillery's landmark 1995 release with a Madeira finish. The combination of the two cask contents creates a harmonious interplay of fruity depth, sweet richness and subtle spice, interwoven with chocolate. Glenmorangie The Altus 25 Years was produced as a tribute to the pioneering spirit of the brand and to the Glenmoarngie Distillery's art of combining tradition with innovation. In this sense, it embodies the pinnacle of Glenmorangie craftsmanship and is the culmination of the classic house style, which is both familiar and surprisingly new. Hollywood icon Harrison Ford is also associated with the Altus. The star served as the face of the global campaign, which embodies the spirit of curiosity and exploration - the same values that drive Glenmorangie and Dr Bill Lumsden. The stretch of land in the Northern Highland on which Glenmorangie stands has been the site for alcohol production (mostly illicit) since the Middle Ages, setting a formidable legacy. Glenmorangie was founded in 1843, although operation didn’t start until 1849.

Zum Schluss noch die Pfirsich- bzw. Zitronennote für die Glenmorangie so legendär ist.
Geschmack: Opulent, komplex und harmonisch: Ein Früchtesirup (aus Oranghaut, Pfirsich, Datteln, frittierte Apfelscheiben), helle Schokolade, Marmeladen und Puderzucker.
Abgang: Lang (die 25 Jahre waren bestens angelegt!). Eine harmonische trockene Eichenfracht (überhaubt nicht störend, auf den Punkt perfekt!), umschmeichelt den Gaumen mit süßen und fruchtigen Noten.
Kommentar: Tief rein in das Geschmacksgebirge von Glenmorangie zieht uns dieser fantastische Single Malt! Ganz oben im Schaffen und Sein eines Whiskies! Der Preis ist heftig, aber der Geschmack ist einfach traumhaft! Einer der besten Whiskies dieses Jahres bisher! -
Herstellerbeschreibungop 24.10.2025Aroma: Reichhaltig und mild-aromatisch, mit duftenden Noten von Gewürznelken, Rosen, Orangenblüten, Honig und Pfirsich. Ein Hauch von Vanille und Mandel sowie nussige Akzente von Toffee folgen, abgerundet durch Pfirsich- und Birnennoten.
Geschmack: Seidig und süßlich mit fruchtigen Aromen. Mandarinen, Äpfel, Birnen und Pfirsiche mit einem Hauch herber Stachelbeeren, dazu feste, gelbe Pflaumen. Anschließend Weichtoffee mit dezentem Eichenholz und Marzipan, ehe Puderzucker und Banane folgen.
Abgang: Lang, weich und harmonisch süß, mit einem eleganten, anhaltenden Echo an Früchten.

Kommentar: Wenn ich dem Aureum (21 Jahre) eine "Prise" Bacalta verpasse, passiert etwas sehr ähnliches bis hin zur Banane. Spannend.
