The Loch Lomond distillery was founded in 1814. Only water from Loch Lomond, the lake of the same name, is used for its whisky. The use of two straight neck pot stills and swan neck pot stills, different cut points, peated and unpeated barley creates an exceptionally versatile spectrum of flavours and single malt styles. The Original range focuses on different cask finishes and the innovative working methods of the Loch Lomond Distillery, based in the Scottish Highlands, which are now part of the core range. The Original Oloroso Sherry Cask Single Malt presents itself as a harmonious combination of rich sherry sweetness with notes of toffee, caramel and vanilla, which combine perfectly with a gentle smoke. The distillate comes from the unique Straight Neck Pot Still and has been matured for six months in certified Oloroso sherry casks, which gives the whisky its characteristic depth and complexity. At 40.0% vol., this whisky offers a balanced flavour experience that will delight both sherry lovers and connoisseurs of complex whiskies.

Loch Lomond liegt in der schottischen Stadt Alexandria, direkt am gleichnamigen See. Wohl kaum eine andere Brennerei in Schottland hat das Prädikat 'einzigartig' so verdient wie Loch Lomond. Die Brennerei hat nicht nur Pot Stills, sondern auch Column bzw. Coffey Stills. Dies erlaubt die Produktion von vielen verschiedenen Whisky-Arten.

Kommentar: Aufgrund des niedrigen Preises habe ich ihn ohne große Erwartung gekauft. Schon beim ersten Riechen war er für mich eine Überraschung. Eine leichte Sherry-Note die gekonnt mit Vanille und Honig kombiniert ist. Für diesen Preis eine klare Empfehlung. -
