This Ben Nevis was released by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. Andrew Symington founded his company at the end of the 1980s and has always maintained good contact with the distilleries. Today, he can call a warehouse of over 10,000 casks his own.
This bottling belongs to Signatory's Un-Chillfiltered series, in which the whiskies are not chill-filtered. To prevent them from becoming cloudy, they were bottled at 46% vol. This gives the Single Malts a particularly intense Taste. All bottles bear precise information about the distillation and bottling dates as well as the casks.

Kommentar: Bitte nicht erschrecken. Das Aroma beim Öffnen hat mich erstmal verwirrt. Kannte ich bis jetzt nicht. OK, mal einschenken. Erster Eindruck: Völliger Fehlgriff. In der Nase habe ich Kleber "Pattex" und Lösungsmittel. So heftig, dass die Nase nur kurz im Glas verweilen kann. Der Geschmack wird nicht besser. Meine bessere Hälfte hat den gleichen Eindruck. Auch der 2. Dram wird nicht besser. Nächster Abend.... ich habe noch nicht aufgegeben. Was für eine Wandlung. Keine Spur mehr von Kleber und Lösungsmittel. Ich habe plötzlich einen guten, interessanten Single Malt in Glas. Mandel und Gerste mit Süße dominiert. Woher kommt dieser erste, schlechte Eindruck?

Kommentar: Dieser Whisky braucht ein paar Tropfen Wasser. Dann wird er runder, verliert die Schärfe des Alkohols und wirkt fruchtiger! Ich bin etwas enttäuscht gewesen, da die Komplexität fehlt. Er schmeckt sehr unspezifisch. Für den Preis kann man deutlich mehr erwarten! Man hat den Sherry und die Süße - das war es aber auch schon. Die durchschnittliche Bewertung von vier Sternen ist deutlich zu hoch! Für Einsteiger geeignet.
