Buffalo Trace is the oldest continuously open distillery in the USA. During Prohibition, their whiskey was marketed for medicinal purposes. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon was bottled with a stronger alcohol content than usual.

Beim Verkosten entwickelt sich, nach anfangs süßen Noten, eine hervorragende Würzigkeit. Zum Ende gesellt sich dann auch noch der Alkohol mit etwas Frische (Minze ?) hinzu.
Der Abgang ist angenehm würzig lang.
Fazit: Man merkt definitiv, dass er mit 10 Jahren einmal ein Eagle Rare werden wird. Ein runder Alltagsbourbon, der sowohl pur als auch im Longdrink (mit Cola oder Ginger Ale und Limettenscheiben entstehen herrliche Vanillearomen) punktet. Wer es komplexer und kräftiger mag, erwirbt dann zusätzlich den Eagle Rare.
