The "Licorera Cihuatán" distillery was opened in 2004 and is the only rum distillery in El Salvador so far. The brand identity is meant to reflect the Mayan tradition of the country. The Cihuatán Rum Cinabrio matures for at least 12 years in former bourbon barrels made of American white oak and takes its name from the red colour of the mineral called cinnabar, which plays an important role in Mayan mythology. The Maya, for example, coloured houses and objects with cinnabar. Two glasses are included for tasting in company.

Aroma: ein vielseitiges Aroma mit Früchten und Schokolade, nach längerer Zeit in der Nase wird es sogar etwas würzig. Einen Hauch Zitrone vernehme Ich auch.
Geschmack: auch im Geschmack offen und Abwechslungsreich. ein Öliger Film belegt den Gaumen. Gewürze, dunkle Schokolade und etwas Malz sind an oberster Stelle.
Abgang: kurz und ölig-süß. der Abgang hätte etwas besser sein können, recht schnell ist das ganze Aroma verflogen.
Kommentar: ein recht guter Rum mit Potential nach oben, Ich werde mir die älteren Abfüllungen von Cihuatan noch zu Gemüte führen.
