Glenturret Triple Wood combines sherry and bourbon casks to create an intense oak character.
Glenturret's range was revised in 2016. The former exclusive bottlings for England Peated, Sherry and Triple Wood are now also officially available in Germany. The distillery deliberately continues to refrain from specifying an age. The new batches have also been bottled with a higher alcohol content.

The Distillery: Glenturret
Glenturret is one of the oldest still producing distillery there is in Scotland. Its history traces back to some smugglers in 1775. Sometimes it is called the Disney of Whisky, as the visitor centre is so nice and well made.

Aroma: schöne Süße mit Mandel/Marzipan im Hintergrund, Honignoten und deutliche Fassnoten, wobei die Bourbon-Noten überwiegen
Geschmack: sehr schöne Malzigkeit, kräftiger Wildhonig und Würze der Eiche, leichter Süßweincharakter, Pflaumennoten, insgesamt rund und gelungen, etwas Alkoholantritt, der aber mich nicht stört
Abgang: Mittellang mit schönen Eichenaromen, kräftige Tannine der europäischen Eiche deutlich vorhanden, etwas helle Schokolade und Nussaromen
Kommentar: schöner Malt, süß, rund, nicht zu komplex und einfach zu genießen. Ich habe jetzt sehr lange (über 10 J.) keinen Glenturret mehr probiert und bin angenehm überrascht, erinnert etwas an Abfüllungen von Glenmorangie von vor 10-15 J., 3,5 Sterne, aber 0,5 Bonus für den angenehm niedrigen Preis.
Absolut für Einsteiger geeignet.
