Product description
The independent bottler Murray McDavid is based in Speyside. In his Mystery Malt series, he includes Single Malts from all over Scotland, which are bottled and finished in a wide variety of oak casks. This Single Malt was matured in a Bourbon Hogshead before being finished in first-fill Barolo Wine Casks. Exactly which distillery this bottling comes from remains a well-kept secret. Only whisky professionals can guess from the taste profile which distillery, rich in tradition, is involved, located nearby on the River Findhorn in the Scottish Highlands.

Kommentar: Sehr eigenwilliger Malt. Man sollte nicht zu viel erwarten. Durchaus trinkbar, jedoch etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Ein Wechselspiel zwischen süßlichem Malz und jugendlicher Eichenbitterkeit.

Aroma: Malt Cake Date Honey Vanilla Almonds Plum Fig Floral

Geschmack: Oak Cinnamon Dark Chocolate Schmeckt kräftig für die 46%, alle Aromen finden sich auch im Geschmack wieder. Sehr angenehm zu trinken, aber relativ trocken.

Abgang: Mittellang, Ausklang nach Malz, Kuchen, Tabak, eingelegte Pfaumen und Feigen, recht trocken und leicht herb.

Geschmack: süß, etwas scharf

Abgang: leicht adstringierend und herb, Eiche, vielleicht am Ende etwas Schokolade, geht leider unter in dem adstringierenden

Kommentar: junger Whisky mit Weinfassfinish - genau so schmeckt er auch. Die Herstellerbeschreibung hat mich hier auf den Holzweg geführt. Unattraktiv und teuer.
