Product description
The Shinobu distillery is located in the Japanese prefecture of Niigata and was founded in 2017 by master brewer Ken Usami, who also lives in the same building. Until he can bottle his own whisky, he experiments with whiskies from all over the world and matures them in barrels made of Japanese Mizunara oak. The 10-year-old bottling was previously matured in sherry and bourbon casks.

Aroma: Eine Süße wie von Zitronen- und Limette vermischt mit orientalischen Gewürzen.
Geschmack: Mild fruchtig. Mit Anklängen von hellen/gelben Früchten (Zitrone), Vanille und Eiche.
Abgang: Kurz bis mittel. Vanille mit leicht eichiger Röstnote, ähnlich wie bei gebrannten Mandeln.
Kommentar: Preis/Leistung nicht gut bestanden! Die typischen Aromen von Mizunara-Eiche (Kokos/Zederholz, usw.) findet man in Whiskies von Suntory (Hibiki und Yamazaki) viel mehr und deutlicher.
