With The Alba Trail series, the German importer Alba Import releases bottlings from its cask stocks at renowned distilleries. This 10-year-old Tamdhu spent the last two years of its maturation in an Oloroso sherry hogshead. The Speyside Single Malt is bottled without chill-filtering and without the addition of colour.

Situated at Knockando in the center of the Speyside the Tamdhu Distillery managed to survive difficult years of economical ups and downs. This is due to the status of Tamdhu Whisky as a reliable component in the Blends of the Highland Distillers for years. It always was “The Can-Dhu-Spirit”. Since 2011 the distillery belongs to Ian Macleod Distillers who meanwhile started a revival of the brand and relaunched the Single Malt Tamdhu successfully. read more

Abgang: Caramel Oil Dark Chocolate PepperCoffee

Kommentar: Schon beim eingießen zeigt sich die ölige Konsistenz, auf Zunge schön cremig und sehr süffig, dazu dezent würzige Noten. Meines Erachtens eine recht gelungene Abfüllung.

Abgang: Sweet Herb Dark Chocolate Coffee

Kommentar: In der Nase dominiert zunächst der Sherry mit Feigen und Äpfeln, dann zunehmend würzig mit Nelken, später gesellen sich auch Vanille- und Schokoladenoten dazu.
Auf der Zunge sind im ersten Moment die Sherrynoten kurz da, dann wird der Whisky sofort würzig und herb.
Im Abgang eine leichte Süße mit deutlichen Noten von Bitterschokolade und Kaffee.

Geschmack: Gebrannte Mandel, zart schmelzender Kakao, dazu Lebkuchengewürze wie Piment und Nelke.

Abgang: Cremig-schokoladig mit einer dezent pfeffrigen Note.
