Langatun Old Deer comes from the distillery of the same name in Switzerland. The name is the Celtic term for Langenthal, the location of the distillery. With water from a pristine spring and selected raw materials, Langatun continues the distillery tradition founded by Jakob Baumberger in 1857. Langatun is proud of its unique distillates, which are produced by hand using the Pot Still method, rather than mass-produced goods. Old Deer is matured in sherry and chardonnay casks, which give it additional complexity and a soft aftertaste.

The Whisky distillery was founded in 2005, half a decade after the legal situation in Switzerland changed: only since 1999 it has been allowed to distil spirits from basic foodstuffs such as potatoes or grain.
