Product description
This Glentauchers belongs to Gordon & MacPhail's Distillery Labels series. Decades ago, the Urquhart family cultivated the important contacts with the distilleries, and the range is now correspondingly broad. In the meantime, their malts from the 'Distillery Labels' are often considered original bottlings, as many of the distilleries included do not bottle themselves. Matured in oak casks and neither chill-filtered nor coloured, this Single Malt finds its way into the beautifully shaped bottles.

The Distillery: Glentauchers
The Glentauchers Distillery is situated in the Speyside, just a few miles from Keith at the road to Craigellachie. There’s no visitor center at Glentauchers and this may be one reason why the distillery is not very well known. But the more important reason is probably that there are very few bottlings of Glentauchers Single Malt Whisky: almost the whole production is used for Blended Whisky.

Finish:
On the nose: Sweet, malty and fruity, a little spice and dry lime. Some subtle vanilla. With water some caramel notes appear, the lime is joined by various citrus notes and a subtle herbal character, sage maybe, followed by a little oak. Really great nose on this one!
One the palate: A citrus note with that maltiness from the nose, sweet, oak wood, some spices, more lime. With water the sweetness is a bit more pronounced, a subtle umami note appears. Some black pepper in there too.
Finish: Oak-y, a little bitter, some peel of the aforementioned lime. That metallic note after adding water lingers a bit.
Overall a really nice, complex whisky, gets an extra half a star for the outstanding nose!
