Variety Single Grain Whisky
Aroma Intense and complex with different facets of vanilla, cocoa, forest honey, cinnamon, pear bread, Bündner Torte and quince.
Taste Light and with notes of cereals and an earthy spiciness. Hints of toasted walnuts, dried figs, black pepper and oatmeal with honey come in.
Finish Medium length, dry, earthy, strongly woody with hints of hay, black pepper and some leather.

Product description
The Langatun Vintage Reserve comes from the Swiss distillery. The name Langatun is the Celtic word for Langenthal, the location of the distillery. With water from an unspoilt spring and selected raw materials, Langatun continues the distillery tradition founded by Jakob Baumberger in 1857. This limited bottling is the distillery's first and only single grain whisky. Another special feature of this whisky is that the distillate for cask 155 was made from oat malt. 12 years of maturation and a subsequent maturation in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry cask make this Swiss single grain one of the distillery's oldest bottlings.

The Whisky distillery was founded in 2005, half a decade after the legal situation in Switzerland changed: only since 1999 it has been allowed to distil spirits from basic foodstuffs such as potatoes or grain. read more

Aroma: Die etwas spezielle Note verrät durchaus, dass es kein Gersten-Whisky ist, erinnert an leicht vergorenes Heu, Getreide, sowie Äpfel und Birnen.

Geschmack: Im Mund ziemlich süß beginnend, dann drückt der Alkohol ziemlich durch, dann aber auch wieder Äpfel und Birnen, die aber noch nicht ganz reif sind, alles begleitet von einer Getreidenote; danach wird das Erlebnis dann ziemlich bitter, es erinnert auch an die Sternfrucht.

Abgang: Diese Bitterkeit wird im Abgang ganz extrem, aber das soll keine negative Bemerkung sein.

Kommentar: Ein ganz spannendes, außergewöhnliches Experiment.

Aroma: Intensiv und vielschichtig mit verschiedenen Facetten von Vanille, Kakao, Waldhonig, Zimt, Birnenbrot, Bündner Torte und Quitten.

Geschmack: Leicht und mit Noten von Getreide und einer erdigen Würze. Anklänge von gerösteten Walnüssen, Dörrfeigen, schwarzem Pfeffer und Oatmeal mit Honig kommen hinzu.

Abgang: Mittellang, trocken, erdig, stark holzig mit Anklängen von Heu, schwarzem Pfeffer und etwas Leder.
