Product description
Benriach The Smoky Twelve is the smoky version of the new 12-year-old from the Speyside distillery. It is matured in three types of casks: Bourbon, sherry and Marsala wine casks. Smoky malt is produced on Benriach's in-house malt floors for only one month of the year. The design of the bottle and tube are modelled on the original Benriach from before it closed in the 1990s.

Aroma: fruchtiger Rauch; Laubbrand, Wald, rote Beete (!), Beeren (Johannisbeeren), fast rote Grütze über kokelndem Heufeuer; etwas Asche, etwas Pflaumen - schön vermischt auf jeden Fall; auch etwas Vanille und Karamell
Geschmack: voll, schön ausbalanciert Feuer (Laub) mit Frucht, hier weniger Beeren, mehr etwas Lakritz; auf den zweiten Schluck leicht ein paar Kirschen, bisschen Gewürz und Kräuter auch dabei
Abgang: Lakritz und Feueranklänge; kräuterig; spät raus auch ein paar Beeren noch; echt schön; mittellang

Kommentar: Ich hatte die Gelegenheit, ihn vor Ort zu verkosten, recht persönlich und noch einmal intensiv allein, was vielleicht den Eindruck beeinflusst. Im Vergleich zu anderen 12-Jährigen recht komplex in Geruch und Geschmack, interessant und angenehm, vor allem, wenn man ihm etwas Zeit zum Atmen gegeben hat. Der fruchtig-süße Rauch von Benriach gefällt mir persönlich immer sehr gut!
