Product description
The inspiration for Cihuatán Suerte Rum was the Mayan god-king Muwaan Mat, who above all imparted luck and prosperity and passed this on to his followers and loyal servants through quartz crystals. To pay homage to the god, the Maya performed a sacred ritual in which they filtered water through quartz. Master blender Gabriela Ayala followed this example and also filters the distillate of the Cihuatán distillery through quartz crystals. Previously, three molasses rums from the column still of the Licorera Cihuatán distillery were married. These included a light rum aged for 17 years, a heavy rum also aged for 17 years and a light rum aged for 15 years. The components of the high-proof homage to the God King all matured in new, medium burnt-out barrels made of American white oak in the tropical climate of El Salvador.
